There is a local Minor Eye Care Scheme (MECS) in our area, this provides NHS triage for eye problems in Primary Care.
MECS triage urgent trauma, red eyes and sudden vision loss as well as more routine issues such as dry eye this is available to all patients registered with a GP in Mid and North East Essex.
Patients can contact MECS optometrists themselves and you can self refer, no referral letter is required.
